Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
Joshua 1:16 "Then they (the Israelites) responded to Joshua "Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go."
While the people were answering Joshua, it is important to remember that Joshua was only commanding them what God had commanded him. Their response could have easily read "Whatever you have commanded us we will do, O Lord, and wherever you send us we will go."
As a pastor's family, our response to God is to always be "whatever you say, wherever you send."
Yesterday, despite the fact that our house is still on the market, despite the fact that we are just 10 weeks from Curly Baby's due date, despite the fact that there is at least 2 feet of snow on the ground and it's just plain bitterly cold, I put in my notice at work.
Mr. Curly and I believe we have followed God's calling in moving to Iowa, and that we did the right thing in commuting on the weekends for so many months. But the time for the commute is over.
Now is the time for us to fully immerse ourselves in our new Iowa town, to become part of the community, to make new friends and truly become the pastor's family of the Church of the Nazarene.
Honestly, I'm terrified. We have plans in place for the house in SD, we have plans in place for insurance and I will be finding a new doctor. Everything is planned, everything is good, but it means so much packing and unpacking. So much new stuff to get used to.
Things like:
Being home all day.
Living with just one bathroom.
Dealing with Mr. Curly being gone much more often (not just to his office, but to whatever other job he takes to float along the SD house until it sells).
Joining a MOPS group (I've always wanted to do this, but the idea of joining something new makes me sick to my stomach, has since I was a little kid)
Finding a gymnastics or dance program for Curly Girl
Doing the newborn thing past the 6 week mark (I've always gone back to work and the babies have stayed with Mr. Curly)
Not a single one of those things is bad, they are all really good in fact (except maybe Mr. Curly being gone more). But they are new, and they are different.
But God commands us to be strong and courageous, and reminds us that He is always there. I think I just might paint it on the wall.

I went to MOPS from January before Max was born until he was just over 3 months old. It is great having that support group though it is terrifying I know at first to step out of that comfort zone.
We'll be praying for you in all of these changes (good and not so good) that are coming down the track for you.
You are a very brave strong woman. I love watching you change and grow. I know you can do this, and through your courage and strength great things will come.
Love ya.
