Say what you need to say....

John Mayer doesn't have a lot of good theology in his songs, but when you only hear the last four lines, and your in a place of "what do I even pray, God?", you can sometimes find something.

Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as your eyes are closin'
Do it with a heart wide open
Say what you need to say

Considering the fact that so many of my prayers are whispered in my head and heart in the middle of the night as I struggle to stay awake while feeding Curly Baby, that third line rings especially true.

I won't claim to know what Mayer was talking about, but last night when I heard those lines, I felt God nudging my heart, giving me His truth. He can handle every last worry and complaint we have. Not that we should dwell on those worries and complaints, but we can be completely honest with Him, even about our fading faith.

That is something we should rejoice over - that God loves us so much, He allows us, He WANTS us to be real, so He can shower us with love, mercy and grace even more.

So today, as you pray, be real with God. Say what you need to say.... and leave it in His hands.
