I renewed my wedding shoes.

I found this post at Factory Direct Craft on Mod-Podge shoes and just had to try it.

I've held on to my wedding shoes for 7 years now because, well, because I'm sentimental and they are my wedding shoes! They are also my absolute favorite style of shoes (I have black and brown versions of Mary Janes heels and am a sucker for any "new" development to them).

But, after seven years, well, let's just say, I haven't worn them for about 5 due to the beating they were taking. So they've spent the last few years in the bottom of my shoe basket.

The material is an old shirt of mine that was one of Mr. Curly's favorite while we were dating.

I followed the directions exactly, and even referenced this post at Oops I Craft My Pants and this post at Make It and Love It for extra tips and pictures but,

1: I STINK at using Mod-podge glue. Well, almost any glue really, but especially at spreading mod-podge glue with a butter knife over dyable wedding shoes.

2: I ended up finishing off edges with a low-temp glue gun.

I like how they look, but they could use some clean up. A little more trimming, a few more glue gun spots.
The good news is, the material pulls off SUPER easy. So I can either re-glue the same material, or change it every week according to what I want to wear the next day. I wore them on Sunday with a black skirt and a pink peasent shirt and looked super cute (if I don't say so myself).

I'm considering starting a little etsy shop selling mod-podge shoes, but since I didn't come up with the idea myself, I'm not sure that's entirely legal (or nice to the people who were willing to share the idea). Maybe I'll just buy super cheap shoes on sale at Walmart and Payless and continue to make something fun for myself. And I'm sure Curly Girl, who found a pair of pink sparkly shoes that she REALLY wanted the other day, would appreciate some new glitter satin on her sandels!
